Introducing the SayoStudio Science Podcast

July 10, 2024

The Power of Visuals in Science:
Insights from SayoStudio Podcast

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our podcast, SayoStudio Science. In our very first episode, I, Nicolle Fuller, with my brilliant colleague Claire Agosti, dive into the heart of our science communication studio, SayoStudio.

Join us as we share our vision for SayoStudio and our passion for using stunning visuals to make science come alive. We’ll take you behind the scenes, revealing how we’ve grown and evolved over the years. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to communicate science in a way that is both captivating and accessible. At Sayostudio, we’re a science communication agency dedicated to using visuals—design, illustration, and animation—to help others communicate complex ideas. We’re excited to share some of what we’ve learned in our science design podcast

SayoStudio’s podcast goals: promoting science visuals

After 20 years of creating science visuals, we’re excited to share our tips for creating science visuals. More broadly we want to advocate for ways to better use visuals to support scientific research. So often, we see missed opportunities for the use of scientific graphics. We hope that by sharing some of our strategies, we will help increase science visual communication.

We also hope, with both of our rich backgrounds in science and art & design, that our experiences can inspire others in this field and beyond. In our roles at SayoStudio, we often joke about the importance of wearing the right “hats and pants.” Although we’re used to bridging the divide between science and art, we also often juggle business and marketing. We’re excited to discuss these convergencies and explore how our skills in design and marketing can further help many of you communicate science.

Growth mindset in business, art and design

One of the core beliefs that guides us at SayoStudio is the power of a growth mindset. We’re continually working to learn, improve and grow. Claire and I have evolved together as we’ve taken on more responsibilities and grown SayoStudio. Now, with a great core team to support our business, we continue to embrace new artistic ideas and push the boundaries of our work. Furthermore, our goal to grow has helped us build a like-minded group of incredible freelancers and contractors. Our fantastic group brings fresh perspectives to our projects and opens up creative possibilities.

Science communication and visual storytelling

Claire and I are excited to develop our podcast series to make science accessible and engaging for everyone with visuals. Our goal is to show how science affects everyday life and highlight the importance of effective science communication. Understanding scientist’s needs and tailoring our communication strategies to effectively convey scientific research and its impact is at the heart of what we do.

Thank you for joining us! In episodes to come, we look forward to talking about how design trends are relevant to science, some of the amazing science we get to learn, and tips for communicating science. Please tune in and leave us a comment about what interests you. We hope our experiences inspire you to embrace the power of visual storytelling in science communication.
