Engineering and Technology Animation for Tech Communication

March 7, 2024

Unveiling the Invisible in Tech Communication: An Artistic Lens on Engineering and Technology

We inhabit a world where technological progress moves at an unprecedented pace. From immersive virtual reality gaming to energy-efficient cars, technology is rapidly evolving. However, with advanced technology must come advanced communication. What options are there to explain and demonstrate these engineering solutions? How do we effectively communicate cutting-edge processes, especially when invisible once installed? Enter science visualization, a powerful solution and tech communication tool.

De-Ice is committed to minimizing air travel delays while reducing carbon emissions through advanced de-icing technology. When faced with the challenge to communicate their tech, De-Ice sought the expertise of SayoStudio. Together, we created an animation portraying De-Ice’s technology, its environmental benefits, and the transformative effect it can have on the daily lives of many.

De-Ice’s Mission: Minimizing Delays, Reducing Carbon Emissions, Change Industry Perspectives

One of De-ice’s tech communication challenges was due to its innovation’s success. Invisible once installed, the technology is easily retrofitted to existing aircraft. Stepping up to this challenge, SayoStudio animated the molecular activity of de-icing, unveiling the intricacies hidden beneath the surface of this innovation.

Creating an Impactful Animation

For De-Ice, the science needed to be accurate to appeal to tech-savvy investors and aerospace partners, while conveying the technology’s impact clearly to a broad audience. The seasoned team of science communicators at Sayo were no stranger to this challenge. Our team got straight to work creating a storyboard to lay the foundation of the animation. Each step was mapped out from the initial concept to the final frame to ensure logical, clear, and creative storytelling throughout.

One of our 3D animation experts brought this vision to life with their meticulous eye for detail and technical experience. To compliment the animation, SayoStudio offered guidance for De-Ice’s script and helped source the perfect fit for the voice actor role. Through this collaboration, the final animation demonstrated a captivating story of de-icing technology that is technically accurate and visually impactful, skillfully illustrating the various stages and processes involved in the de-icing technology.

Sayo’s Vision in Tech Communication

The Sayo team navigated De-Ice’s technology and communication objectives, crafting a compelling visual narrative. Going beyond conventional storytelling, this animation seamlessly blends art and science, delivering an engaging and memorable experience for a diverse audience. Consequently, this animation was a key component of De-Ice’s press releases announcing their partnership with Air Canada, capturing the attention of prominent media outlets, like Bloomberg News and Fast Company. By weaving together both scientific and creative expertise, our animation showcases the impact of “showing” rather than simply “telling” when communicating innovative tech.
